AFRICAN HUMAN INTER-VARSITY ESSAY COMPETITION: IHRAM INVITES ENTRIES

The African Secretariat of the International Human Rights Art Movement (IHRAM) has announced the official call for submissions for the African Human Rights Inter-university Essay Competition. This prestigious competition aims to ignite intellectual discourse, encourage critical thinking, and inspire youth activism among African university students on pressing human rights issues across the continent.

The African Human Rights Inter-university Essay Competition serves as a beacon of intellectual exploration, offering students a platform to channel their academic knowledge into meaningful discussions on human rights. By addressing contemporary human rights challenges in Africa, the competition seeks to foster research, dialogue, and awareness, ultimately empowering the next generation of African leaders to become agents of positive change.

Participants are encouraged to submit essays that address critical human rights topics including Gross Domestic Violence Against Women, Prohibition of Same-Sex Activities, Sexual Abuse on LGBTI Persons, Human Trafficking, Access to Education, Gender Equality, Youth Empowerment, Environmental Justice, Political Participation and Governance, Migration and Refugee Rights, Healthcare Access, Cultural Rights, Freedom of Expression and Media, and Social and Economic Inequality.

Twenty outstanding essays from the competition will be selected for publication in the forthcoming anthology titled "Voices of Change: Essays on Student Activism and Human Rights." This publication will serve as a vital resource for amplifying student voices on the continent's human rights landscape.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three winners, with the First Prize receiving $100, the Second Prize awarded $75, and the Third Prize earning $50. Additionally, Five Honorable Mentions will be recognized for their exceptional contributions to the competition.

Eligibility for the competition is open to students enrolled in African universities, with essays ranging from 1000 to 1500 words in length. Submissions will be evaluated based on originality of thought, depth of analysis, clarity of expression, spelling and grammar, and adherence to contest guidelines. All essays must be written in English.

Entrants are required to include the following information with their submission: Name, Age, Student Identity Card, Gender, Country, Address, Phone Number, Source of Call for Entries Information, Short Profile about Yourself, Permission to Publish the Essay, and Name of School or University.
